Record number of women apply to be mechanics

Before going to bed I came across this article talking about how a record number of women are applying and going to school to become auto mechanics. I personally think this is terrific because I feel that women can be and achieve anything we put our minds to. I currently drive a 1994 Toyota Celica that breaks down every week it seems like lol, and I wish I could grasp my mind around what is going on under that hood. I feel that having the basic skills of knowing what is going on under the hood of your car would help women better understand their vehicles, better educate them so they are not ripped off at the auto shop, and build self-confidence and independence. I also think the idea of women becoming auto mechanics because it breaks down gender roles. Many people believe that women should grow up to become clean office assistants, nurturing nurses, and caring school teachers. Men and society seem to look at women crazy when we say we want to get down and dirty and work on cars.
