As an American citizen I feel that the government is put into to power by its people to serve and protect them, and when the government is not doing its job then it should be replaced. Sadly, to say this is not the case for many countries and citizens around the world especially women. The United Arab Emirates' reforms were over thrown by the governments in the Middle East yesterday to protect domestic workers from abuse are insufficient to shield women working as house maids from abuse and violence. This means that women have no protection and will remain victims of human trafficking, forced labor, confinement and sexual violence. I personal think this is unexpectable I don't see how these countries such as Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait and the Emirates could do this their own women, the their people! There has been a big change in the sense that these countries are recognizing there is a problem, but while many governments are introducing reforms, most have yet to implement them. I feel that the United Arab Emirates should either developed another social committee to oversee domestic workers' rights or take on more responsiblity because currently it is governed by the immigrant law in most Middle East countries and obviously changes are not being executed if women are still fearing for their lives.
